What is Sportstrack?
Sportstrack is designed to record, review and reward individual’s personal performances, then rank them in one global league for the world to see.
Why do we need it?
Sportstrack is a Global Sports League designed to inspire you to become the most active and successful sports person you can be. It will allow you to share your success with the world.
Who created Sportstrack?
Sportstrack was created by teachers for teachers and their students. The league benefits both teachers and coaches as a reference tool to effectively measure the success and progress of students by comparing and ranking them against their peers at other schools or sports clubs.
What inspired this idea?
We wanted to find a way to record the fastest children on the planet. Everyone knows the fastest professional athletes but who are the fastest students or amateurs? The point is, it allows children the chance to improve their running or swimming times all year round, not just on School Sports Day! It would be great if we can record, reward and rank them all year round.
What are the advantages of joining?
People that join, become members or champions of a sports community that share experiences, post their performances, and challenge and compete against each other. They can improve their individual performances by training and competing against fellow league members or champions as we refer to them. Each champion is rewarded for their efforts and their personal best performances.
What does it cost to join?
It’s free to join-up to benefit from using the leagues, we are also working towards offering free monthly prizes to the top performers based on effort and personal best improvements.
How old do you need to be?
Any age from 6 years old through to 100 years old!
How do you ensure privacy?
What is the timekeeping policy?
Data is uploaded by registered champions and then verified by Sportstrack according to official time keeping standards. The database is displayed as a global league table for its champions to access online or via the App.
How do we know the recorded performance times are accurate?
• We require the top ranking members to upload a video recording of the race/event according to our Official Timekeeping guidelines.
• Once this file is uploaded to #verifySportstrack the data is checked and posted to the league table.
• Sportstrack has strict guidelines regarding accuracy and consistency of data, but rely on good faith, and trust its champions to ensure recorded data follows the standards laid out in the 'time keeping policy'.
What are the different levels of rewards?
We reward ‘number of attempts’ with Medals (10 attempts = 1 Medal) and after 5 medals an avatar upgrade is awarded. Also each time a new personal best is achieved an avatar upgrade is also awarded.
What’s the difference between Sportstrack and other fitness Apps?
As we are looking for the fastest performances across designated distances (like 75, 100, 200-metres sprint), we rely on the use of digital timers and an honour system of posting accurate times unlike other fitness Apps that only measure effort.
How do you record effort?
Effort is recorded by number of attempts
How is does it work?
For every 10 attempts you are rewarded with a medal
How is Personal Best recorded?
We want to incentivise and reward healthy active lifestyles. With health issues in the way of excess weight and diabetes etc. on the increase in many developing countries, we believe students and individuals are motivated to be active through a gaming culture of comparing and improving. People are further motivated when they see results. Sportstrack does exactly that, by creating a global league table that records, reviews, ranks and rewards personal performances in one big league for the world to see.
Are there any other incentives?
We will be reaching out to corporates and brands to sponsor monthly competitions that reward members with prizes based on their improvement levels* within their league.
*E.g. if they improve their personal best or get a high score for effort.
What about the future?
Our primary focus is to spread the word and expand our membership base and support the local community of aspiring athletes. Ultimately we'd like to organise annual global events for our members (champions) to travel, meet up and compete within their leagues.
How does Sportstrack its make money?
Currently it is non-profit. It is self-funded by the co-founders who are currently looking at ways to generate funding through advertising and sponsorship, for prizes and further development. If you are interested in brand awareness opportunities to support
Sportstrack please contact:
I'm interested in being a sponsor, what do I get?
Our sponsors can benefit from media coverage and brand recognition on the site, and sponsorship at planned events to be staged in the future.
